In Memory of George Burden

I have just heard of the death at age 88 yesterday evening our time (5:30am in Queensland, Australia) of a former Spitfire sergeant pilot, George Burden.  George did not want money 'wasted' on flowers, etc. but his remaining relatives in UK would like to make a donation to an organisation connected with the Spitfire because this was his main interest in life.  George was born in Sittingbourne and lived in the Medway area of Kent (apart from his time in the RAF, of course) until he emigrated with his family to Australia during the 1962/3 winter.  He continued flying until very recently whenever he could afford it .  In latter years he was afflicted with macular degeneration so he had to fly with an instructor but, once up in the air, he would pass on his knowledge of aerobatics to the instructors, which delighted them.  He flew with Redcliffe Aero Club in Queensland and used one of their Cessna 152 Aerobat aircraft.

Yours sincerely

Ken Barnes

The above letter was received very recently, and Ken Barnes has kindly passed on a donation to the Trust.
